すっかり秋らしい気持ちの良い気候になりましたが、
ついに今週末
adidas EQT BBALL × UNDEFEATED
リリースまで足掛け一年以上かかりましたが、抜群な仕上がりです。
いかなるスポーツにおいても、プレー中の足蒸れは解決すべき
永遠の課題の一つに挙げられますが、足蒸れの軽減ではなく
ソックスの要素を兼用し、インナーを取り替える事で
"快適にプレーできる"という斬新な発想で1993年にリリース
されたのが「EQT BBALL」です。
同時期に
ナイキではエアジョーダンシリーズで
ダイナミックフィットインナーブーツと呼ばれる、
ハラチフィットをベースに独自のフィット感を追求した
機能が誕生していました。
このインナーの構造は現在でも一般的で、エアジョーダン
のみならず、レブロンシリーズをはじめとするナイキの
バッシュに使用されています。
一方で、アディダスは
直接ソックスのように着用するインナーは肌触りが良く、
ストレッチ性とフィット感に優れた素材を使用し、手洗いを
繰り返しても劣化の少ない耐久性も兼ね備えた独創的なインナー
を作り出したのです。
一説によると・・
インナー素材はネ×プレーンで、それをラ×クラで覆っている
との情報をキャッチしました。
日本でラ×クラを取り扱うオ×ロンテックス社に直接
問い合わせてみたところ、EQT BBALL に関しての情報が
ないようで、詳しく言及するところまで至りませんでした。
ただし、有力な証言として
「着脱可能なインナーがあり、しかもそれがネオプレ×ンを
使用しているのであれば、そこにライ×ラ(R)ファイバーが
使用されていた可能性もあると思われます。ウェットスーツの
素材の中には、ネオプレ×ンゴムのシートにライ×ラ(R)
ファイバーを使った生地を貼り合わせたものもございます。」
・・とのことなので、
さらに調べをすすめます。
アディダスジャパンでも、EQT BBALL を取り扱っていれば
話しが早いのですが。。
そんな能書きはナシにして
シュータンとインソールにばっちり入った５STRIKES だけで
満足でしょう。
さらに
極めつけは
渋すぎです。
今回このモデルを選ぶにあたり、UNDEFEATEDは履き心地云々
ではなく、短命に終わったEQT BBALLに再び命を吹き込む
スタイルを貫いています。
ブランド自身のトレードマークである、
「パフォーマンスと最先端デザインの融合」
を地で行くまさに男らしい一足の象徴です。

adidas EQT BBALL
In 1993 a shoe that shook the very foundation of the basketball shoe world was released. At that time a common problem found in shoes designed for most sports was a lack of proper ventilation during play. This problem rang especially true in the case of basketball shoes which, due to the extreme lateral and frontal motion involved in the sport, required a shoe with greater stability that was unable to incorporate more breathable materials such as the mesh used in running shoes. With these characteristics of the sport in mind natural leathers that would lose their resiliency and shape over time were also avoided, leaving more durable synthetics to be used liberally on the upper. These man-made materials, however, had zero breathability, making perforating the material the only feasible solution. That was until the advent of the adidas EQT BBALL, a radical new concept in footwear that improved comfort during play through the incorporation of a removable liner with advanced fit and ventilation technology that could also be washed repeatedly without a loss in function. In regards to the upper, TPU parts that maintained breathability and firmly held the foot and ankle in place were also employed. With all of this intricate technology in place, however, selecting a size with just the right fit for each user proved to be difficult, and unfortunately the shoe’s lifespan was short.
For this very reason UNDEFEATED has decided to bring the EQT BBALL back to life once again. Amidst the swarm of bright colors popping up as of late we’re offering up the EQT BBALL in two more practical colorways: the original shoe’s black and a new military-inspired olive drab. With a custom reflective logo on the tongue and an original night-ops camouflage print, every little detail play up these kick’s rugged image. Additionally, with two additional liners included with every pair customization is easy. Without a doubt this shoe sums up the adidas tagline “Serious Performance.”
As for the special material high-absorption material used in liner we’re still looking for more details and will bring you more info as soon as we have it.
